Birthday Pleasure

It was more than a year ago when I learned from Instagram posts that Magnum Pleasure Store has opened here in Manila. And it was only last April that I got to drop by the place, in time for my birthday celebration with my brother Mitchell and his girlfriend, Lanie.

Magnum cafes are found in different countries and are known for their customized magnum bars.  Aside from this, the cafes also offer luscious desserts and savory dishes.  So, the highlight of our visit was to sample some of these!

Mitchell had carbonara with cocoa dusted bacon and sous vide egg.  It's spaghetti tossed in parmesan, bacon and cream, and crowned with a 60 degree cooked egg and crispy bacon.

While Lanie and I tried the cocoa dubbed roast chicken.  It's a slow roast chicken served with chicken jus, cream spinach or choice of wild rice pilaf, roast potato or creamy mashed potato.  We both had wild rice pilaf.

For dessert, we had customized ice cream bars instead of fancy decorated cakes with magnum bars (tama naman!).  We didn't bother to customized our own because we were already attracted with their signature flavors.

Mitchell got Jardin.  It's vanilla ice cream bar coated with milk chocolate; topped with chopped pistachios, gold nuggets and freeze dried raspberries; and drizzled with white chocolate.

Lanie tried Fruit Tropics.  It's vanilla ice cream bar coated with white chocolate; topped with chopped pistachios, yogurt nibs and dried mangoes; and drizzled with white chocolate.

And the birthday girl (ahem!) had Gold Rush.  It's a chocolate ice cream bar coated with dark chocolate; topped with gold nuggets, chocolate crunch balls and chopped pistachios (supposedly, it's parmesan popcorn but it was not available that time); and drizzled with white chocolate.

For me, it was truly a birthday pleasure!
