The Choco Loco Syndrome Strikes Back
This October 2016, I was again given an
opportunity to travel abroad and this time, it was on Uncle Sam’s – United
States of America. Particularly, I went
to Los Angeles, California for a four-day official travel and extended the trip
to pleasure for 8 more days in San Francisco.
Like my previous trips abroad, I got to experience another chocolate
adventure – the Ghirardelli Square chocolate collection.
Ghirardelli is almost everywhere in
California and yet I did not pay attention to it until I was about to go back
to Manila. I was then looking for the
boarding area assigned for my flight and at the same time, looking for
chocolates to give as pasalubong for my friends’ kids (hindi kasi ako nakapag-uwi,
kung mayroon man ay eksakto lang pang department namin) when I passed by this
store selling Ghirardelli chocolates in particular. What really caught my attention was the
colorful packaging of the chocolate squares and when I got near the
assortments, I got more curios with the flavors. (Sayang, I wasn’t able to take photo of all
the varieties, nahiya ako e!😊)
So, I did get the following flavors:
Milk
Chocolate Caramel:
I got three of these given to my godsons and goddaughter. This flavor is quite safe for kids, so I
hope they liked it.
Dark
and Sea Salt Caramel: This is more of
pang-teenager, so I got two of these for bagets. And I also hope, they enjoyed it.
Dark
Chocolate Blueberry: This one, I guess, is for the
adventurous ones! And among my friends’ kids – Alexia is on top of my
mind. At dahil feeling adventurous din
ako, I got two of these – one for her and the other one for me.
My first thought was, the filling will have
some blueberry fruits. But actually
there was none. Sobrang tamis lang sya,
na hindi ma-balance ng dark chocolate so the taste was really so sweet.
Dark
Chocolate Spicy Caramel: Quirky! Isn’t it? What really went into my
mind when I saw this – I have to taste it! Kaya I got one to satisfy my
curiosity. And I wasn’t
disappointed. The spicy flavor was
overpowered by the dark chocolate so parang pahapyaw lang yong spicy taste. It
was a good one – a really good one!
And now, here strikes another choco loco syndrome! I have to sample the other flavors, and I am beginning to look for them at local grocery stores. Unfortunately, wala pa akong nakikita. So for those of you who will be coming home from the US, alam nyo na pasalubong nyo sa akin! 😄
