Stores with Characters
Aside from the diversed luscious food, one thing associated with food that fascinated me during my visit this January 2017 are the cartoon character themed stores. These stores have life sized cartoon characters which are really worth taking pictures with.
Pasteleria Yeng Kee
Located at 2 Largo da Companhia de Jesus, Macau, it is one of the longstanding and famous pasteleria shops in Macau. Since 1928, it specializes in cake with almonds.
Likewise, its branch located at the end of Rua de Sau Paulo, directly infront of the steps leading up to the Ruins of St. Paul is a Snoopy Pop Up Shop. Found inside the shop are life sized statues of Snoopy and Friends.
As pasalubong to my friends back in Manila, I bought some mini cookies. Each small box costs MOP 40 and contains 36 mini cookies. I picked 4 varieties: almonds, pork floss, dried scallop and black sesame.
Aside from the traditional pasteries, the shop also offers free postcards which could be designed using some rubber stamps found at one corner. This one was designed by my companion Banny which he gave me.
Hello Kitty Obrigado
Located at 5-7 A Travessa de Sao Domingo is another cartoon character themed store, the Hello Kitty Obrigado. Hello Kity is Sanrio's most well-known and beloved character while Obrigado is a Portuguese word meaning 'thank you'.
Hello Kitty Obrigado offers Macau traditional snacks and souvenirs such as macaroons, egg tarts and almond cookies - with Hello Kitty twist.
The goodies looked very inviting, yet quite expensive - imagine, macaroons for MOP 28 each. Kaya nagpakuha lang ako ng picture hehehe...
