Amazing Architecture in Astana
I never heard of Astana, Kazakhstan until I was given the opportunity to visit the place in September 2012 for an official business. And if I am to name one thing that's remarkable about Astana - it's the unusual architecture.
ASTANA (Capital)
The capital and second largest city of Kazakhstan
The second coldest capital in the world
"(Kazakhstan:) Heart of Eurasia"
KAZAKH ELI (Land of Kazakhs) MONUMENT
Architectural and sculptural complex that symbolizes unity of all people of the country
SHABYT PALACE
Palace of arts
A dish like building made of glass
PALACE OF PEACE AND CONCORD
(Pyramid of Peace)
Global center for religious understanding
ARC DE TRIOMPHE "MANGILIK ELI" (The Eternal Land)
Symbolizes the 20 years of independence of Kazakhstan
GREEN WATER BOULEVARD (NORZOL)
"THE SHINING PATH"
The national boulevard of Kazakhstan
BAYTEREK (Tall Poplar Tree) TOWER
The exact geographical center of Eurasia
The most famous architectural landmark in Astana
KHAN SHATYR
(Royal Marquee)
The most daring of all Astana's architectural fantasies
The highest tensile structure in the world
The most spacious entertainment center in Central Asia
Khan Shatyr by night |
Taken on our way to the airport |
I'm not sure if this is the HOCKEY ARENA, but definitely it's of the unique buildings in Astana. It resembles a helmet.
