KL By Night

I consider myself fortunate to experience the kindness and hospitality of Malays when I went solo to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June 2012.   I went there primarily to attend a 3-day training organized by the Psychometric Cluster of Mimos Berhad.

Psychometric Cluster has a lot of wonderful people: Dr. Haniza, the director had been very approachable and generous.  Hamzah was my contact person.  He helped me with my accommodation and had been in constant communication from the time I board in the plane in Manila up to when I got to the Hotel, and even every night during my stay, he kept on checking on me.  Shibah arranged my daily transportation from Mimos Berhad.  Tala and Xian had been my chatmates during snacks and lunch breaks.  And lastly, Zu and Azi (together with Hamzah) were my tour guides.

Their kindheartedness became more evident as the training concluded. Dr. Haniza offered me to join them in a dinner while Hamzah along with Zu and Azi gave me a lift from and back to my hotel.  And before they brought me back to the hotel after dinner, Hamzah, Zu and Azi gave me a tour around the city.

Cultural Dinner

Restoran Seri Melayu
We dined at Restoran Seri Melayu, a known buffet restaurant in KL offering authentic Malay cuisines and cultural performances.  I really had great time from the food up to the entertainment.  I got full and I already forgot what I ate (it's been almost 4 years!) except for the famous "satay".  Why? It was like the famous barbeque but the twist was, it was curry favored!  I also remembered discussing about one of the dance performances with Dr. Haniza , it seemed like our Singkil dance!  At ang sagot nya, "We have the same roots".  - That was very heartwarming, feeling belong

The City Tour:

Petronas Twin Tours
It was not my first time to visit the famous architectural structure in KL but my previous visits were during daytime.  It was my first time to get near it at night – ang maganda nya.  The lights add to its majesty!

KL Tower
It was supposedly our next stop and I was really looking forward to getting up to the viewing deck but unfortunately, my tour guides couldn’t find our way to the tower.  <hehehe>

Sultan Abdul Samad Building
I was really awed with this building known as the centerpiece of colonial architecture in KL and delighted to see in different color!

To Dr. Haniza, Zu, Azi and especially, Hamzah, I would be forever grateful to the wonderful night that I had! And to the others, thank you for being accommodating!
