Yardenit
Our last stop during the Nazareth and Sea of Galilee tour last October 26, 2013 - Yardenit. Yardenit is located along the Jordan River in the Galilee region of northern Israel. Also, it is located south of the river's outlet from Sea of Galilee.
Jesus was actually baptized in the Jordan River in the area of Jericho. However, when access to that location has become impossible, the traditional baptismal site was moved here in Yardenit.
Yardenit is popular place for Christian pilgrims to renew their baptismal vows and for new Christians to be baptised by undergoing total immersion in the mild waters of Jordan. Baptismal ceremonies held during our visit. (Sayang we were not informed beforehand, sana kami rin....)
A view of the river, believed to be the traditional site where John the Baptist baptised Jesus.
