Kit Kat: The Toasted Adventure

Not a week long had passed, I wrote about my Kit Kat adventures and how euphoric I am with these Japanese snack bars.  The blog also mentioned about the supposedly inclusion of toasted pudding in the adventures if only it didn’t run out of stock.  So I was very delighted when @chocolicsbynix sent me SMS about its availability. Thus, it’s time for another Kit Kat adventure!

Okay, aside from Kit Kat and Nestle, there is nothing more that I can read on the package of these sweets.  So I have to rely on what online sellers call its flavor. However, I found it more confusing since online sellers are calling it in at least three names – toasted pudding, custard pudding and pudding.  Let me just name it – pudding.

What is more exciting in this Kit Kat bar is that you can consume it in two ways: as it is and toasted.

1: Custard Flavor
One way to eat this sweet is just to unwrap it and bite.

How it tastes?  It’s a revelation! The coating tastes like the custard hopia from Eng Bee Tin.  It smells like pudding and has a very sweet and creamy flavor.

2: Toasted Flavor
At the back of the package, an instruction on how to toast the bars is written.  However, it is in Japanese so I had to search online on how to do it.  Good thing, I found this site which is very helpful since it shows visually how it is done

How is it done?  First, unwrap the Kit Kat bars. And then bake it in the oven for about 2 minutes (I read this from another blog which I can’t remember).

First attempt:  After 2 minutes, the Kit Kat coating just melted. There was no sign of being toasted.  So, we baked it for another 2 minutes making it a 4-minute toasting.

How it tastes? Toasted, indeed.  It's as if the sugar in the coating got discretely toasted so you can savor it distinctly from the sugar and cream. Aside from the toasted sugar, the creamy and sweet taste is still there plus the flaky wafer.

Second attempt:  Now, the bars were toasted for 3 minutes and it looked similar with the one on the packaging.

How it tastes? The taste seems to be more milky, this time, sweet and slightly toasted.  It goes well with the crunchy and flaky wafer.  Para syang naging cookies. I also love the toasted pudding aroma!

So, that goes my adventure with the pudding flavored Kit Kat.  Did you get intrigued with the toasted adventure?
